Evaluative Essay

For an evaluative essay to be viewed as valid, the subject to be assessed and the criteria to be used to make the evaluation must be stated clearly.

The evaluative essay uses many methods found in the cause and effect essay and the comparison essay. Evidence is more important though than in some other essays. In a literary essay the evaluation would be primarily textual. In a law essay, evidence would mainly be drawn from witness statements. In a scientific essay data and statistics would provide the main source of evidence. In all cases, the quality and interpretation of the evidence is especially significant.

The evaluative essay is commonly used for assessing writers’ skills, frequently employed by examiners. It gives the chance for the writer to show their ability in both essay writing and understanding ideas of the particular subject.
